My love affair began with this artist way before the movie about her life came out.  Believe it or not, my grandmother use to dress this way. All day. Every day. I remember when she walked her large silver bangles use to jangle together. And she wore at least 5 to 10 at a time.Per arm.  She always wore the costume dress of the indigenous people. She had all her rings on and she would always get one of us to brush her long Indian hair that would reach all the way to the end of her back.

You must always be true to yourself. If you want to wear your hair braided on top of your hair, why not? If that is to retro for you, why not have your hair slicked back with a low bun? When I perform on stage I usually wear a flower in my hair. Come to think of it I have worn it even when I go to a club. I think a beautiful white flower with a black dress looks divine. You can never go wrong if you always keep classy in mind.

And don’t be afraid of adornment(I have a gold plated vagina on a long chain). It helps to enhance what is already there. I am always on a look out for cheap accessories that will compliment every outfit. I especially find myself gravitating

towards turquoise pieces. I found a beautiful wrap around bracelet. I love earrings and i always wear gold cause it compliments my complexion. It may sound cliché, but never let the tr3-row-pear-shaped-turquoise-braceletends dictate wheat you wear. I can’t because of all my junks in my trunks. And honey you should see me in a maxi dress i look like Octomom

But, I digress.

I still own one of my grandmother dresses that she sent to me before her passing. I miss her.
