My Journey Back to Skinny Jeans Land-My Diet In A Nutshell

Posted on 6th August 2009 in My Journey Back to Skinny Jeans Land

BeFunky7I lost another five and a half pound this week!

Drum Roll Please!

Say what?  Come again?

I said, “I lost another five and a half pound this week!”

Bring on the trumpets and the alto and tenor saxs please!

Everything is starting to look more trim, which is good, but my boobs are getting smaller! This is not good! I used to be a 38D and in two years I have grown to a 42 never-you-mind-the letter! While, I like the bigger boob on me…as do others, I do find that it can be a little distracting. I mean do I really need all this boob? I have enough to give to at least two deprived souls.

But, I digress.

Anyhu, I totally forgot that I did not share with you my diet before. So here it goes. Remember that you should always consult with your doctor before starting any lifestyle change of this sort.

Breakfast

Omega-3-eggsOmega 3 Eggs with a side of back bacon or a side order of chicken or turkey bacon.

When I feel like it I add spinach to the above. After, I wash the spinach, I fling it in the pan with a little bit of olive oil and sprinkle salt and pepper on it to taste. You can add a little bit of onion powder or chopped onions also. No tomatoes, though…not yet.

It is not wise to skip breakfast. I find that when I do it is just setting me up for failure. If you purposely miss it, you encourage yourself to cheat.  I set my alarm 15mins earlier, just to make sure that I have enough time to make it.spinach-super-food-lg

Lunch

I normally have a chicken or turkey salad with low-fat Caesar dressing for an extra kick.  Yes, sometimes I put on too much meat on top of my salad. But, when the doctor is away then Lucresia will not only play-but- find -some -way-to -add -extra -weight- to -what- she-is -eating!

chicken-salad-sl-521176-lA few times I had spinach with a couple of pieces back bacon. I felt like the pig I ate! You know how you see those pictures of pigs all piled together yamming on some mish mash. Well that’s what I felt when I was eating one of them- eating a mish mash of everything!  I mean who eats spinach with bacon together! Oh well.

Dinner

Here is where I go crazy. You can have any protein (I will give you the list later) and a side salad and/or steamed veggies.

I use frozen veggies. I love to use them because when I use fresh produce I find it tends to spoil too quickly. Some stores do not adhere to strict guidelines. Trust me, my sister used to work for a giant retail supermarket. Side note: you are better to make your own veggie and fruit tray. Trust me! She has told some doozies about what goes on behind those swinging back doors you see at the market. For taste, I drizzle a tablespoon of low-fat mayonnaise (not salad dressing) on top of the veggies.  Delicious!

grilled-chicken-ck-1646397-lFor my protein, in the past few weeks I have had the following:

Steak

Grilled Chicken

Baked Chicken

Baby Back Pork Ribs

And although, I sat in line at the drive-thru at KFC trying to convince myself that if I took the skin off their chicken it would be the same as having it at home. But, alas no dice.  It would be deep fried.  So I pulled out of the line and drove off.

Frig that!

I stayed in line, paid for my chicken and went home sat at my island and poured their gravy all over it and suck it down so much the bones had no colour left on them.

But, don’t worry, I took off the skin.

The beauty of this diet is that I season the meat while I am waiting for my eggs in the morning and let it marinate all day. Then when I have to cook the meat, I cook it in my lasagna pan or roasting tin and go about my business.  During, the last state of cooking, I then put on a pot of frozen veggies and bring them to a boil. I love this way of cooking because there is no fuss and I am not a slave to my stove.

Snacks

I have Jello (pre-made) which surprisingly is only 70 calories.jello Sometimes I do sneak in low-fat vanilla pudding, what’s an extra 30 calories, 100 calories in total to be exact.

Baby Carrot sticks and/or Celery, which I pre-cut them and leave them in the fridge on a tray for easy access.

Chicken Broth- not as good as it looks. Without the noodles or side of crackers, it feels like I am having a very light watered down chicken gravy.

I know that being on this diet can be a bit monotonous, but I like to consider it as a life change. When I look at what is in my plate, I actually for the first time feel as if I am nourishing my body, as opposed to just gorging on everything. And you know how I do. I hate eating veggies, but now I pile them on and it is now in fact filling.

Next post, I will give you all the foods that I can and cannot eat and my vitamin list too.cooltext430159205
